INRAE just published a very interesting paper regarding Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) and their increasing attention in food systems research. This literature review aims to identify research gaps for the Horizon Europe research and other innovation programmes, providing a state of play of the definition and characterisation of SFSCs, and of their sustainability. This publication summarises a wide range of papers related to SFSC literature, while specifically highlighting the empirical results derived from European projects. Additionally, based on this review, INRAE proposes some recommendations for a future research and innovation programme.
