The European Commission (EC) is organising an interactive stakeholder dialogue to explore the needs and options to strengthen the global Science Policy Interface (SPI) as one of the possible outcomes of the UN Food Systems Summit process. The online event, which is entitled “Exploring Options to strengthen our Global Science Policy Interface for improved Food Systems Governance”, will take place on 29th April 14:00-16:40 CEST (Brussels time) via WebEx. This event will be directly related to the early findings of the EC High Level Expert Group, under the chairmanship of Tom Arnold. Furthermore, the event is being convened as a part of the UN Food Systems Summit Independent Dialogues.
The EC High Level Expert Group is composed of 19 top experts from across the world, who are mapping existing SPI, identifying the gaps, assessing needs to be further debated during the Summit process, with the aim to develop viable options and recommendations to be delivered in May 2022.
The stakeholder dialogue will be designed to both inform and solicit inputs from a wide diversity of actors, in particular international organisations, Members States and other policy makers, scientists and research organisations, knowledge providers, the private sector, civil society organisations/NGO and media. This event is focused on global issues, and thus also welcomes participants from outside Europe.
